Just like Elvis, the star of Viva Las Vegas is a singer and guitarist. And, with guitar slung over his cat-suited shoulder, Paul goes where the audience of Elvis devotees take him. “I suppose being a musician means I can be more spontaneous on stage, something Elvis was famed for,” says Paul. Necessarily, the 11-piece band and backing singers that join Paul on stage in the spectacular production are among the most flexible musicians performing today.
Thus, Paul’s stage show not only includes the biggest hits drawn from Presley’s entire career – including Hound Dog, Blue Suede Shoes, All Shook Up, Jailhouse Rock, You’re the Devil in Disguise, A Little Less Conversation and Suspicious Minds – it can take a detour to any part of Presley’s illustrious career.
Paul boasts Elvis’ good looks, performing as the King would have looked before embarking on his famed love affair with hamburgers!
“I appear as Elvis would have done during the late Sixties,” says Paul. “After his comeback and as he prepared for his Vegas shows. It was then that he was at his self-assured best.”
