| May 7, 2008 Winnipeg based comedian, Gerry "The Big Bear" Barrett will travel to Las Vegas at the end of May to participate in the world's largest tribute to the King of Rock and Roll. Elvis Tribute Artists from across North America will gather at the Imperial Hotel and Casino on Sunday May 25th, to sing one Elvis Presley song in unison, in an attempt to break the Guinness World's Record of impersonators to do so. Australia currently holds the world record with 147 Elvi singing the song Love Me Tender. Gerry Barrett, an Aboriginal stand up comedian, and a huge Elvis fan now closes each of his comedy shows with a tribute to the King of Rock and Roll in funny bit called, "If Elvis Were Chief". "Elvis has always been a role model for Aboriginal people, including myself. When I added my tribute to the King in my comedy shows, it turned out to be wildly popular!" The Guinness World's Record Elvis tribute is part of the 17th Annual Reel Awards in conjunction with the 8th Annual Celebrity Impersonators Convention. Hundreds of top celebrity impersonators, look-a-likes, sound-a-likes, and tribute artists from around the world will gather for an evening of fun, schmoozing, performances, and awards.
