Hi everyone

I have not been on here for some time, but am glad to be back.
I have been asked to see how the following idea goes down among the ETA world.
I have been performing for the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust for 8 years now and am friendly with the
fund-raising manager for Scotland, Allan Johnston, who asked me whether
I could post the following to Elvis colleagues as, in his words, "I
thought that a team of Elvis tributes would be a fab attraction at the
event".

The Anthony Nolan Trust is privileged
to be selected as the Official Charity of The International World Clan
Gathering – The Gathering 2009 which is being billed as the biggest
Clan Gathering to take place in Scotland in the last 300 years. See http://www.clangathering.org

The
partnership with The gathering 2009 is no accident. As you may be aware
The Anthony Nolan Trust operates the UK’s most successful bone marrow
register and exists to find a matching donor to offer a bone marrow
transplant for every patient in need of one. Bone marrow
transplantation is very ethnic specific and potentially even applies to
the Scots race. This means that donors must come from the same ethnic
background as the patient. The event is attracting people from all over
the UK and worldwide who have Scots ancestry. If we can persuade some
of them to join a bone marrow register here in the UK or in their home
country then potentially they could be helping to save the lives of
Scots all over the world.

Be part of history! Over the weekend
of 25th and 26th July 2009 approximately 50,000 visitors to Edinburgh
will witness the Gathering of the Clans and The World Heavy Highland
Games Championships within Holyrood Park. We have been asked to run the
Tug O’ War Competition at the Highland Games. We propose to make the
competition as fun as possible over the two days and the commentator
will be able to commentate and mention some fun facts about each team
as they take part. The Tug of War Competition is an event synonymous
with Highland Games and will be a show event over the weekend. Form a
team of eight and take on the competition in the main games arena to
win a fantastic trophy and have the experience of a lifetime.

There
will be three competition categories, a male competition, a female
competition and a mixed competition. The competition will be a straight
knock out in each category aiming for a quarter final, a semi final and
a Final which will be held on the Sunday (26th July 2009).

Special team entry fee
Opt
for the team to raise a minimum sponsorship of £750 and entry is FREE.
Simply complete the entry form opposite and return it with your entry
fee. You will then be sent a sponsor form and all the details you need
for the challenge.

Sponsorship
To take part we ask each team
to raise as much money as possible and to pledge to raise a minimum of
£500 or £700 with the extended sponsorship option (£300/£500 of which
is payable on the day of the event but you can give us a post-dated
cheque for one month after the event). There is a trophy (kindly
donated by our sponsor Premier Inn) for the winning team in each
category

Online Fundraising
You may find it convenient for
the entire team to raise funds on line, please visit our website to set
up your online fundraising page - www.anthonynolan.org.uk/createyourownevent

If
any ETAs are interested in taking part, please let me know and if there
is enough interest, Allan will take it from there. As far as I
understood from our conversation, the ETA team would not have to raise
as much because of the publicity they would bring and it would be
entirely legitimate for the team to take expenses from the amount
raised to get there. This was not mentioned in the press-release email
he sent me above, but if cost is an issue, I am sure they will work
something out.

Many thanks.
