Elvis' Most Expensive Jumpsuit!

The Peacock. It cost Elvis a reported $10,000! And back in 1974 this was probably around the equivalent of $50,000 in today's money!!! Pretty expensive for 1 costume....but there is no doubt that it is a masterpiece and Elvis' favourite out of all his costumes.

But he did'nt wear it as much as his other embroidered suits and in fact, the suit he wore most of all was the Sundial (1974 + nearly all of 1977) closely followed by the Bicentennial suits (1976).

Yeah, the Sundail he wore a lot!
They thought that they made a new one in '77 but it was such nice stretch materiall that he realy thought was comfi!
Also the V-Neck, Elvis would looove to wear, sins it was so comfi!!
I would had loooove to see him in his 'Laser suit'!!!
Ppppfff that one is realy, realy nice!!!

did the suit cost 10,000quid because it was worth that much because it was encrusted with dimonds and jewels or was it because it was being made for elvis. did designers jump on the band wagon as well ,

I must admit the peacock is one of my all time faves. If I had one made for me it would be this one. Absolutley love the colours in it. Just stunning!

After being sold for a record $300,000 at Auction last year- what on earth has happened to this suit?
At the time, the auctioneer described the seller as a "big Elvis collector" and declined to say who bought it.....
Anyone know where it is now?

Who sold the suit first time round?

Well the history of this suit post 1999 as far as I can make out is this:
1999- I saw this suit myself at the Paul Lichter auction at Bonhams of Knightsbridge. The colours were still remarkably vibrant on the embroidery and I noticed that there was no belt with it.
At auction the suit failed to sell.
My path crossed again with this suit a few years later when I was in Las Vegas. It was being dislayed in a glass case at the Vegas-A-Rama museum, again there was still no belt.
This museum very sadly subsequently closed down.
Than last year, there was another auction with this suit as the centrepiece where it sold for $300,000.
It's whereabouts now, or who bought it..........are unknown.
There were rumours that the anonymous bidder was none other than Nicolas Cage and the suit is now on show in his house. Then there was another rumour that it was Graceland themselves who bought it back for future inclusion in the racquetball building.
The location of the suit at this moment in time is a mystery...
