Police in the US have found a woman's body in the same area where a missing Elvis fan from Scotland had been staying.
Gerrie Lawrie, from Aberdeen, was reported missing on Saturday after she failed to arrive home on her scheduled flight to Scotland. Ms Lawrie had been in Memphis, Tennessee, for an annual festival dedicated to Elvis Presley's death.
The 40-year-old, who is said to have been on her sixth visit to the city, which is home to Presley's Graceland mansion, was reported missing by her friend Gene Barksdale, a former police sheriff in Shelby County, Tennessee. The Commercial Appeal newspaper in Memphis said a 40-year-old woman's body had been found close to an apartment being rented by Ms Lawrie.
The report said police were yet to identify the body but that officers from Memphis Police Department had said there were "no obvious signs of foul play". Mr Barksdale told the newspaper he had spent time with Ms Lawrie last week.
He said: "Her mother called me to let me know that she didn't arrive on the flight she was supposed to arrive on. Nobody has been able to locate her." Mr Barksdale said the last time he saw Ms Lawrie was on August 15, one day before the 34th anniversary of Presley's death.
A Facebook page has been set up "in loving memory and honour" of Ms Lawrie. The page says Ms Lawrie has one son, and organiser Caroline Pratt said there are already plans to honour Ms Lawrie in Memphis in January next year, during events celebrating Presley's birthday.
