Ok it may be a bit of a piss take but when Eddie actually sings a little he does sound alot like the king.

Yeah i saw this show when it was first released on video way back in 1983 i think it was.

Eddie Murphy made fun of other big artists such as Stevie Wonder, James Brown.

What it didnt show was before the clip starts Eddie says 'I like Elvis Presley (to loud applause), then he goes on and says 'i,ll give credit where credit is due' and then this is where this youtube clip begins.

I can understand some fans getting upset with what Eddie has said but at the end of the day, its common knowledge Eddie is a massive Elvis fan.

Its not just Elvis tho he goes on about other big artists like you said sean. and after all he is a comedian but thought his Elvis voice sounded Great!

It`s all done in fun. As others have said Murphy has acknowledged that he is an Elvis fun.
His voice isn`t at all bad to be fair.

Can't watch the clip at the mo. but I would guess it's from the Raw show? Eddie is a HUGE Elvis fan and I heard once he has a room in his house with a lot of Elvis pictures in it.
Also in Joe Esposito's photo book there is a picture of Joe with Eddie. If you look closely at Eddie's films there are a lot of Elvis references in them: in the Golden Child I remember seeing an Elvis poster in his character's bedroom and in Coming To America (love this film) a guy (Eddie Murphy in a nother role) is "entertaining" a crowd by singing a Whitney Huston number. Watch how he leaves the stage! It's almost exactly the same way Elvis bows out in the CBS Special- except here it is done to a background of deafaning silence!
