| Hello all.
I`ll not give you my answer just now, but here we go...
I want you all to think commercially as well as what you feel is your best song - or a mix of both.
If you were asked to do a performance for say `live aid`(or any mixed age range audience) at the new Wembley and your brief was "I want you to do an Elvis song that everyone will know and join in with" what song would you choose any why? | |

| Mine would be If I Can Dream as it is my favorite song & performance from Elvis. It is an iconic song & it's as relevant now as it what it was back when he first performed it on the '68 Comeback Special! |

| I`m gonna put mine in now.
I have found in general, the song that goes down best is `The wonder of you`.
Now I don`t dislike it, but it is not one of my favs.
I do feel, however, that it is the song that seems to go down real well with all ages - this is from my limited experience, BTW.
All of the other songs mentioned are great - if I was asking one of you guys to perform a song for me, all of the ones you have mentioned would be ahead of `The wonder of you`
What do you all think? | |

| while i love The Wonder Of You , as it was probably the first Elvis song that i learnt to sing , i do agree with you bud , my wife actually as grown to quite dislike this song as it seems that i can never go a week without singing it , but like you say it is a crowd pleaser , wonder why that is ? | |

| On a personal basis, I really like The Wonder of You as, to me, it seems to express how Elvis felt about his fans. He had a special bond with his fans, and the love of his fans and his need to perform for them kept him going at times. I don't know if it would be the song to sing in this instance though. Carol
To add to this:
Today, I asked a "non-Elvis" "Non ETA" friend, in her early 40's, who has never really paid much attention to Elvis or his music, and who has never seen an ETA, to name 3 Elvis songs that she'd heard of (using the example in the original post of a live aid performance with all generations in the audience and a song that most people would know) and she really didn't know any of his songs except (in her words)..."the one about blue shoes...?" and "isn't there one about "Love me tender, love me sweet"?
I wonder if this is typical in the "Non-Elvis, Non-ETA" crowd? |
