It took about two weeks. The frame is 2" x 1" pine. The front is 3/8th" MDF and the back is 1/8th" Hardboard. The dimensions of the front are 1700mm x 500mm. The 1700mm was governed by what I can fit in my estate car with the seats fully down.

The hardest part was marking out the lettering. I had to draw a grid in pencil that covered the entire board, then drill the holes according to the grid.

Getting the right matt black finish on the front was also tricky. After the entire unit was finished, we covered the edges with speaker carpet.

There are 228 ultra-bright LED's, each mounted in chrome holders. Each LED were wired in groups of 4, 5, or 6 into "Chocolate-block"-type connectors, then wired in parallel so each LED gets the same power.

We then made a controller/power unit comprising of a 9v transformer (12v was too dazzling) and a timer unit. The sign can be either off, on, or flashing on/off according to the cycling time dial on the timer unit.

The power/control unit connects to the sign via a two pin lawnmower-type plug.

The layout looks perfect i was looking for maybe a out of place LED but couldn't see one , it looks well proffecsional and i guess the photot's don't do it justice.

One bit i didn't get was the config of the leds

It does look really amazing, i wouldnt have a clue how to build something like that, when you have it up on a stage will you please post more pictures so we can see it in full glory?
