There is little doubt that in one room at Sidney Health Center Extended Care "the king of rock 'n roll" lives.
In the resident's room, you can see quilts, a pillow, doll, calendar and tons of photos of music legend Elvis Presley.
Extended Care resident Bertha Desjarlais explains she has been a fan of Elvis since she first heard him on the radio in 1956 or 1957.
"He's a good singer, and he's handsome," Desjarlais said.
Her favorite songs include "That's All Right Mama," "Love Me Tender" and "Heartbreak Hotel."
Desjarlais came to Extended Care five years ago, and that's when she started collecting Elvis-related materials to help cheer up her room.
She can't remember the first item, but she thinks it was probably some photos.
One of her favorite possessions is a "Jailhouse Rock" doll of Elvis. She received it as a Christmas present.
Also close to her heart are two quilts, featuring photos of Elvis, made by nurse Kelly Markle - one for her birthday and one for Christmas.
Desjarlais listens to her two Elvis CDs faithfully.
"We always know what to buy Bertha because she loves Elvis," Kris Radke, activities director at Extended Care, said. "She's a die0hard Elvis fan."
Radke notes that Desjarlais often brings her favorite music down to the dining room area so other residents can enjoy the singing of Elvis.
"Maybe we need to have a Elvis Presley Day for you," Radke said to Desjarlais.
