Does your kids like Elvis

I have just read the article below and it got me thinking about how much influence we have on our childern.

Would you encourage your child to love and enjoy Elvis's music or let them decide what they like or dont like.

I must admit when we see anything to do with Elvis we say to Ebony (now 2yrs & 4mths) 'who's that' and she knows who he is and could say his name long before she could say most others. lol. She says 'I like Elvis' and dances to his songs and tells us when she thinks its him singing (not that she gets it right all the time lol). But whether this will be a lasting thing I dont know.
A lot of younger people are into Elvis than they where say 10yrs ago so I hope when she reaches 13-14 she will still like him but I doubt she will be sitting in her bedroom listening to his CD's (if they still have CD's - its more like IPods now isnt it lol). But I do hope he has a lasting impression on her, though I guess it will be hard not to be when her parents are both big Elvis fans and have his pictures up all over the house.
I wouldnt however be a pushy parent in the sense of 'making' her listen to his music or dressing her up in Elvisy type clothes to go to conventions etc as some times this can be more for the parent than the child, though I very much doubt the child would shun all the attention they'd receive.
Does your children like Elvis or was there a time they did but dont now?

I know this may sound corney, but as an ETA it should be one of our missions to get the kids listening to Elvis.

I am thinking of putting on a few shows near Christmas for under 18`s and I already have 2 bookings with schools.

I have 3 kids - My eldest (18) does my sound/ lights, etc, so he does not have a choice.

My daughter (15) is a showjumper, likes the shows but is into modern music.

The funny thing is, its my youngest (boy, 10) that is the big Elvis fan. When we get in the card he will ask me to put Elvis songs on and he happily sings along to them.

I just brainwasht my kids!! haha
When they would hop intoo the car, automaticly the CD player would start, with Elvis ofcourse.
As soon as i would enter the house, Elvis would be on.
So all of there lives they have been listening to Elvis.
Although lots of times they went to there own room and listen to there own music there.
The youngest one is not a big fan, he just likes Elvis.
But the oldest one, his room is decorated, and he has quiet a Elvis collection of CD's.
He also loooves to hear Johnny sing.
I guess you cant go wrong of raising the kids on Rock and Roll!!

I think my daughter lucy gets a bit fed up with it sometimes. shes 6 but my son callum loves it. hes two and hes got the moves down to a fine art allready his favorite at the moment is thats allright Mamma. its really funny when he walks on pretending to be on stage and plays his air guitar and shakes his leg and stands just like Elvis. I'll try not to push him into it to much but hopefully he will also be a great fan and who knows maybe he'll upstage his old dad ( in a few years or so thou Eh) ive also done a gig for my daughters school and the kids all seem to know who Elvis is/was and they were all up dancing and seem to really enjoy it. the headmaster wants me to do another one soon. they really like G I blues so they can get up marching.

Yeah Callums 2 and 3 in January. they do come to the shows where kids are aloud but then again they here me practising all the time anyway. Ive allready done a gig for my daughters school and raised £750 for the school which helped build a tranquillity garden fo the kids. there was 250 tickets sold and there was about 50 kids there and they all seemed to really enjoy it. I think its great that even kids that age know of Elvis and i think this is one of the reasons why the Elvis legacy will live on.

I think Elvis will always win through cause of the icon factor Elvis had and the legacy he's left kids will look into who was this Elvis guy why is he such an icon and when they do they will realise how great he was with his music and live performance therfore creating new fans with some of them. however we still need to get away from the joke Elvis stigma. i also think we shouldn't push to hard and force it on people cause sometimes the harder you push the harder they push back if you get my meaning. I'm quite confident however that the legacy will live on cause true style will shine though.
