Hi Mark
We are relatively new to it compared to you old pro's so havent really got the experience to say !!! but we definitely price our own shows taking into account the area etc and the capacity. We did have the reverse problem with the Newcastle Falcons when they gave us a six month contract and they priced the tickets for the first show too low and people thought it would be cr-p and were a bit reluctant to buy so they upped the ticket price for the next one and it worked wonders confused .

The thing that seems to have affected venues and keeps coming up is the smoking ban ! Mike wouldnt have been able to perform unless this was the case as he has asthma affraid

Interesting point Debbie
so i thought with the credit crunch i would have thought lower the ticket prices so they would be affordable for people to go out but on the other end of the scale the public would not take that into consideration if priced low then they would think or might think it would be a crap show so in a sence what would be better? Very Happy

Hi Mark

I think you just have to price your show etc based on what you think your value is i.e as in the entertainment and the whole package you are providing and the cost incurred in doing so, you can adjust it slighty taking into account the area and the capacity of the venue, but on the whole I think every performershow should place a value within reason on themselves and if they didnt get any bookings or couldnt sell tickets thats when you have to take an honest look at the situation.

You have far more experience than me though what are your thoughts ?

Hi Debbie
Well 1st and foremost i always believe in the product i am selling i always as a rule let children come to my shows i do and they go free from the age 12 and under but the show i just did friday many people there was drinking water i have never seen such a thing in 10 years sincer iv been doing this, but the ticket price was alittle higher that i would charge as a rule so then i start thinking for the average couple for a night out or family with ticket and drinks your looking at spending an easy £50 which not many has that sort of spare cash these days for a treat as a night out so what i am thinking is making the ticket price lower but what i am scared off is i dont want the public to think is what you said that the quailty of the show wont be there as it is sold too cheap.
Very Happy

Hi Mark

Thats a good idea for the kids to go free! I hadnt even thought of that - will probably start doin the same for the next lot of tickets/posters I get done, people like that kind of thing.

I honestly haven't noticed people not drinkin, in fact its the opposite, but we are in Geordieland ha ha !! says she drinkin a lager or two affraid all I can say is its a compliment if they are prepared to do without a drink as long as they can see your act.

Where do you draw the line though? I think people will always want to go out and have a good time and forget their troubles and will find the money for a good night out as long as its worth it!
