In this 1955 interview with Elvis and Mae Boren Axton, Elvis appears to say that he never did any kind of public singing anywhere before he did his first record! Could the history books have it wrong? What about Vernon's comment in Elvis OnTour that Elvis won 3rd prize singing Old Shep when he was a child?

I wonder what, then, the early scenes of This Is Elvis were based on when he sings in the classroom and the narration goes on to say something to the effect that from then on he would always use his music to meet girls?
