Elvis tribute artist to kick off winter entertainment lineup

Elvis tribute artist Brad Boice will return this fall to perform at the Expo Center for his second year in a row.
Brad Boice and his band, the D.C. Drifters, will perform from 8 p.m. to midnight Nov. 29. A dance will also be held during the show.
Over 300 people showed up at Boice’s Cresco performance last February. Ken Paxton, executive director at Howard County Economic Development, said the success of last year’s show prompted him to invite the performer back.
“He basically sold out last year, and the demand was there,” Paxton said.
Boice has a strong fan club base throughout the region, and he has won several Elvis impersonator competitions.
Boice will be the first on a schedule of entertainment events Howard County Economic Development is hosting this winter.
“We thought he was important to kick off our winter entertainment schedule,” Paxton added.
Other events include Late Night Catechism, a one-woman comedy show on growing up in Catholic schools, to be held Jan. 31, 2009 at the Cresco Theatre; Moon Glow Orchestra (Big Band) performing at the Expo Center Feb. 14, 2009; Frankie Valle Tribute Band at the Expo Center on March 7, 2009; and Switchback at the Cresco Theatre on March 28, 2009.
Howard County Economic Development decided to offer a winter entertainment lineup for the first time this year, due to a lack of options in past years, Paxton said.
“We wanted to keep people coming in and draw them in from surrounding communities,” Paxton said.
Events cost $20 each. A season pass for all five events is available for $80. Tickets are available from the Cresco Chamber of Commerce and all Howard County local banks. Tickets can also be purchased at the Expo Center the night of the concert.
