Doug Church

When we where in Alabama, some people told us, that Doug Church was in this contest in August, and got 3th place!!!
I asked them:'Why should Doug be in a contest, sins he already won it?! If you are on top, you can only fall down...'
Just was wondering if anyone knows it is thru, sins a few people there told us..

Oooh I dont know hun I do know Doug is World Class. I guess sometimes it depends on the judges on the day, also how the ETA performs on the day.
I think once you have won you always run the risk of being further down the line next time but for some its just for the crack of it. Paul just enters for the fun of it all and the camaraderie with the other ETAs, although he would love to win some day its not the main reason he enters it. Would be interesting to find out if he did or not though xx

I know, Doug has this world class tittle for as long as i know about him..
That is why i dont get it, why he should be in a contest.
One lady said, that it could be so he could just prove to himself that he still got it.
But to me, he dont have to prove anything...

Yes, it is differend, if you havent won anything yet, or dont have the risk of losing anything, and go just for the fun of it.
I realy think this is intresting too, to find out if this realy happend!

I think you will find that Doug was entering The Ultimate he did win Images but i think he wants a crack at the Ultimate as he will be doing next year too

Good for him. We wish him all the best. He has a great chance of winning in any case.
I love attending comps but I think they are so nerve wracking I dont know why these guys do it to themselves, but as Paul says, its being around it all thats the apeal plus if he just came for the show he would be itching to have a sing lol

I understand if he just wants to meet the other ETA's, i mean they all have one thing in commen, and most of them are such wonderfull guys.
But he dont need to BE in a contest to meet them, he could just watch them, and talk with them, you see...?

I think Doug will keep plugging away at the Ultimate for a while yes Essie last time i spoke to Doug he said he will enter 2009 dont know if he still does perhaps Darren could tell you more

Just my humble opinion but I really don't think Doug should enter ANY comps. I really don't see that he has anything to prove, having seen this guy perform an amazing show. I know we all have our favorite tributes but unless somebody new comes along pretty soon, i don't know anyone around at the moment who gets anywhere near to him. He is called the voice of Elvis but I think that really under-sells him. to me he really gave me a taste of what it would have been like to see the great man himself performing. The man in my eyes is a living legend

Deano, I am totally with you on that mate, nobody comes as close in my opinion also, he is awesome! I only back from the USA Monday night after performing with him out there, he blew me away all over again! I went to see him with a full live band, the whole works, I didn't think he could perform any better until that night! The way he interacted with the band was so uncanny it really was, I & Jim Holmes (an american eta) were just in awe!!! Yes he definately gives you a taste of what it would have been like to see & hear Elvis 'live', Doug Church IS A LEGEND!

I agree that Doug is one of the best, that is why i dont understand why he dos competitions again...?

I know what your saying Dazza and Deano but it is the ultimate prize to be recognised by EPE as the Ultimate ETA and that has to be the one for your CV... I agree Doug is world class and I have only seen video of him and I cannot wait to see him in Birmingham next April but I wish him luck for The Ultimate... he deserves to win it and in my opinion would be the best ambassadore for Elvis and EPE......

Hi Essie, well Doug certainly has nothing to prove but I chatted to him about it and he said he started doing the contests again coz he missed all guys and the companionship, he made alot of friends in the past through contests etc.

Well, I can see why Doug wants to enter EPE...Images was the first Non- EPE contest. But to have that title that your offically a EPE Contest winner would look awesome on resume' but like you said. Doug doesn't need to enter EPE contest...His reputation and his background and where he has performed is enought to get him shows all over the world.

Hi I can answer this question for you and yes Doug was in this contest and he did place 3rd and was not upset about it and in fact I was in contact with Doug...

Doug has I do believe done about 4 contests.... and he did indicate he is not so much into the contest circuit for the purpose of winning, but he said he got back into the contests because he missing mixing with the guys, he missed the friendships and commaraderie's that came with it.... and that was it...
