Elvis - Battle of the South!

So, you Northern Elvi are not the only ones that can do contests!
The final heat of the Battle of the South contest took place at the Village Cabaret Club in Corringham Essex last Sunday and the finals will take place this Sunday. I only know of a few guys that are in the final - but it should be a good day as there are some good ETA's in it. Those that I know of are:-
Scott Elvis
Marshall King
Lee Jackson
Jason Cole
Patrick Byrne
John King

oh and me Neil J Duncan!

Wow Neil this sounds fab! I recognize 4 of those ETAs and of course I know you so thats 5. I bet I have prob seen the others around though. There are so many fab ETAs out there. It is so great that more and more shows and comps are about as if nothing else the meet ups are fab and contrary to popular belief most of these ETAs who go in for all this get on really well and have a great banter together.

You're right it's always good to watch other ETA's perform - you can always learn new things in this game. I had a really good chat with Lee jackson (met him at Blackpool last Jan but did'nt get much of a chance to speak to him - a really nice guy, down to earth and no ego - my type of person!
Lovely pics by the way, Lorna. Great one of you and you're sister (that's gotta get me some points!) and of you and Ebony (she must be the same age as my grandaughter Eva - nearly three - so well into Christmas - what a shame Santa had to get in a spoil it - only joking Santa!)

Hehe! Yes my mum will love you forever after that Neil. hehe! Yes I think your daughter was pregnant at the same time as me when it was the last Walk a Golden Mile in the Queens. Was talkin to your wife about her. Ebony is 3 in May, though I dont know about Eva (beautiful name btw) but Ebbs is like a little old woman. She keeps telling me to 'stop moanin' Im sure Paul has been teaching her
Is Lee Jackson the young Elvis - he was there with Marilyn? If so he was fab, great look too. I might be getting him confused with someone else but it doesnt take much with me

THE daughter of rock ‘n’ roll god Elvis Presley is coming to Thurrock.

Lisa Marie Presley, 40, is set to join more than 250 Elvis impersonators at the Battle of the South competition in Corringham next month.

The former wife of pop star Michael Jackson and Elvis’s only daughter will attend the final show of the contest.

It will see tribute acts of the King fight it out every other Sunday throughout November and December for the title of “Elvis of the South”.

The winning impersonator will also perform in Elvis and Me, a new stage show touring the UK next year.

Dave Black, of Wild Cat Promotions, which is organising the competition, said: “This is massive for Elvis fans and impersonators, they will be over the moon!

“Someone from the Presley family in Essex is unbelievable for them. I’m just not sure we will be able to accommodate all the fans who are going to come, as the capacity of the hall is only 400.

“It’s all been finalised and she is definitely going to show up.”

Lisa Marie will appear at the competition as part of an Anglia TV documentary on the Presleys, and may even take part in the judging.

She will be escorted by a team of 25 security guards while visiting the Village Leisure Club, in Southend Road, on December 21.

Elvis impersonator Peter Kilbane, 43, of Deacon Drive, Basildon, won a place in the competition after fending off rival acts in a contest in Great Yarmouth.

Mr Kilbane, a builder, said he was excited about the possibility of performing in front of Elvis’s daughter.

He said: “I’m very excited about this. It’s the closest I’ll ever get to Elvis!

“I would be very nervous about performing in front of her.”

The Battle of the South competition starts on November 16, at 2pm, and will also feature impersonator Dave Bates, from Corringham.

Well apparently it has been advertised! Seriously Mark that has what has been stated, I am not making it up. It was posted up on the Elvies site & a few of the eta's at the event have been told this including Jason Cole. Just to set the record straight, Doug Church WILL NOT be attending.

This is the case of false Advertising mate if it was me i would give them 48hrs to clear Doug's name of all advertising Material and to tell all guests attending otherwise you will take legal action for false advertising mate this is underhand and gaining profit on false advertisment i once had the same problem when i was working with Doug Darren state them facts to who is advertising Doug and i bet you it will be done mate all the best

well done neil, excellent news, well deserved, hope that this gives you inspiration to carry on doing the comps cause just shows you can still win them, and you have such an awsome voice, i remember in blackpool at the begining of the year you said that was the last comp you were doing cause you were a little disheartened, am absoloutley made up you have won this, you totally deserve it after your 2nd and 3rds at the likes of blackpool and the brighton casino etc the award couldnt have gone to a more nicer, helpful guy.
