| Remember the colour in TTWII? Here Elvis had a real strong vibrant Blue / Black, you can see it especially well in the Special Edition. A noticeable blue sheen to black hair is very hard to achieve. But when done correctly, the results are spectacular. Most blue/black dyes now work OK for the initial first time you do it, but thereafter every time you dye it, you get a beautiful rich deep black, but not as much blue. I have thought one way would be to buy a Special Effects blue dye and either streak this through the black hair or lightly go over the entire black. The only ETA I have personally seen who constantly had a really nice blue tint to black hair was Kim Bridges of Streatham. Any ideas? | |

| Lol, Sean! Nah sorry- I don't have tips even for myself never mind anyone else! This is a subject which I'm researching & asking others for advice......! I'm sure a lot of ETAs wish they had their own Larry Geller mixing them up a special and unique colour like he did for E.

| Hi Jasper - Are you sure it's not just the blue stage lights that give Elvis that look? When you see him on TTWII behind the scenes before going on stage his hair looks real shinny black - but not like the pics above with lots of blue. Just a thought?? | |

| I have try'd out Black/blue with an unknown brand befor on Johnny's head, sins Elvis always used Blue/Black colloring too. Well, it just kept on dripping of his head. After that i dint use that collor anymore. But when we where in Switzerland, i had seen they sell Blue/Black from Garnier Nutrisse (i always buy that bran for Johnny) and i will try it out the thursday. So i will let you know after, how it came out. | |

| Just found this candid off-stage picture and it's the best example yet of Elvis' extraordinary blue/black hair! I take the point about blue spotlights contributing to a blue/purple aura on-stage, but this proves that his hair was genuinely an amazing purple/black colour off-stage as well- which is right back in fashion now with all these emo kids! And I don't believe that this result is entirely down to the skills of Larry Geller and/or Patti Parry! There has to be something genetic that made Elvis' hair react to the black dye in this way and produce that blue sheen. Perhaps that Cherokee Indian heritage? | |

| What ever it is its just gorgeous! I think you guys should be guinea pigs and each buy a blue/black or purple/black dye, do a before and after shot then we can all decide which is best! Lol! | |

| It seems to be more so the lighting causing this effect in my opinion, when light shines upon a glossy/shiney hair it does tend to reflect a blue sheen or sometimes a red tint shows also. |

| I'd agree on the lighting being the main factor. Could also be that Elvis was "grey" very premature, but his hair colour was known to be "silver"....you know when some guys go grey but the hair is actually very shiny silver, I think once that's dyed black, it may just be a contributing factor in this "Blue Sheen" effect on Elvis' hair.....not that I'm speaking through experience....eehmmm! | |

| Hi guys, I mentioned Kim Bridges earlier- well I took this photo about 8 years ago at the La Pergola restaurant in Streatham. And this particular pic really shows the brilliant blue sheen his hair always had: Black hair with a strong blue sheen is very hard to maintain- as after a while the blue fades and no matter how many blue/black brands you use, because of the colour build-up it just gets more and more black. Without going to a professional every month and paying a King's ransom, I believe it is possible to achieve a very nice blue/black at home- possibly involving 3 different store bought products. It's a lot of trial and error, but my research is making some good progress... | |

| Hope you keep us updated, Jasper. I did try out the blue/black from Garnier, on Johnny last night. It is realy dark dark black with a nice shine on it! I will film some tonight at the pub where he has a gig. But i cant see the blue in it though. Maybe when he gets to be in the spotlight. | |

| Hi Essie, Good luck for the gig tonight! Yes I will keep updating here if I have any good results from my "experiments"!! I hope you will put up some video here of tonight's gig? I saw one video of Johnny singing Moody Blue and wearing his Conquistador suit- it was a very good performance and I put a comment for it on YouTube. Break a leg tonight..! | |

| Aaaw thank you, Jasper. It was so much fun, course Heiki Losoa, was with us too, and he is so funny on stage too. People realy liked it. Oooww how nice that you watched Johnny's video AND commented on it. Johnny always check's the comments and answers them. So i havent seen what you wrote there, but i will take a look. He dont have the Conquistador, it is probebly the Spanish Flower. He has to sell it now, sins it is way to big for him... It's a shame, course it is such a beautifull suit. | |
