| She might have been mulling over the past 50 years - or wondering how big the drinks bill would turn out to be.
Either way, the Duchess of York looked pensive as she left her birthday party on Thursday night.
Despite the financial setbacks of the past few weeks, Sarah Ferguson decided to put on a five-star dinner at London's Lanesborough Hotel to mark her milestone 50th.
Guests included Lisa Marie Presley, who met the duchess in the U.S. earlier this year, and her mother Priscilla, as well as socialite Tamara Beckwith.
The group sat in one of the hotel's private dining rooms for a night of fine food and wine.
Although they seem unlikely companions, Lisa Marie Presley - who was accompanied by her husband, Michael Lockwood, sporting a rock and roll ensemble of blue pin stripes, fur and a leopard-print trilby - struck up a friendship with Sarah when they met in the US earlier this year.
Following the untimely death of her ex-husband Michael Jackson in June, she even flew to her villa in Marbella, Spain, to grieve in private.
She also brought along her mother, Priscilla, who was more demurely dressed in an electrical blue suit and scarf.

| I met and worked for the Duchess one day a few years ago, twas at one of her charity events. The family home is just around the corner from where I live. Her Father Major Ron visited us quite a lot at Dummer Golf Club in Basingstoke, he was very gracious and a really nice man.
There have been rumors that Lisa and family may move to the Uk , with her new music collaboration this may happen sooner than later. I hope so, move to the countryside and get away from all of the freaks in LA. It would be fab for the twins............... a new start.
