Participants In HOK Celebrity Fan Forum

Joe Esposito – “Diamond Joe” He first met singer Elvis Presley while serving in the military in 1958. They both went through basic training at Fort Hood, Texas, but did not meet face to face until a year later when they were both stationed in West Germany, where they quickly became lifelong friends. Esposito became Elvis’ road manager and bodyguard beginning in 1960. Esposito served as the best man at Elvis’ wedding while Esposito's wife, Joan, served as the matron of honor. After Elvis’ death in 1977 Joe Esposito went to work for Jerry Weintraub becoming the road manager for greats including Michael Jackson, The Bee Gees, Karen Carpenter and John Denver. Joe was a major part in organizing the details for organizing the performances at the International Hilton.

Myrna Smith and Estelle Brown – Members of The Sweet Inspirations. From the Queen of Soul, to the King of Rock and Roll, The Sweet Inspirations have provided the background vocals on more million-seller singles than any other group. In 1967 the group was offered their own recording contract at Atlantic Records where they ultimately released five albums and numerous singles, leading off with their 1968 chart topper, “SWEET INSPIRATION” which reached #5 on the R&B chart and #18 on the Pop chart. The Sweet Inspirations shared the stage with the king as his female backing vocalists for Elvis during his entire run at the International Hilton.

Sammy Shore – “The Man Who Made Elvis Laugh” An American comedy legend who founded the Comedy Store on the Sunset Strip. Sammy Shore was voted the best comedy act in Atlantic City by the Atlantic City Press, and was handpicked by Colonel Parker to be Elvis’ opening act during the King's famous 1969-1972 "Comeback Tour" in Las Vegas at the International Hilton.

Joe Moscheo and Terry Blackwood – Members of Elvis’ Imperials Quartet, On July 31, 1969, Elvis Presley walked out on the stage of the Las Vegas Hilton International Hotel for the first time in nine years and sang before an audience of celebrities and fans from all over the world. Accompanying him on that momentous evening was a 40-piece orchestra, conducted by Bobby Morris, the TCB Band, the Sweet Inspirations, and the Imperials. For the next three years, the Imperials backed Elvis in Las Vegas and on road tours. They also recorded such hits as "Suspicious Minds" and "In the Ghetto" with the king of rock and roll. They can be seen in his hit movie "That's The Way It Is".

DJ Fontana – D.J. Fontana began his incredible career as a staff drummer in 1953 on the famous Louisiana Hayride. While working the Hayride in 1954 D.J. met Elvis. They formed a common bond of friendship and admiration for each other's immense talents. D.J., Scotty Moore and Bill Black formed Elvis’ original band. D.J. was the man behind the beat for the first 15 years of Elvis’ career. D.J. and Scotty received the Nashville Music Award for the best Independent Album Of The Year in 1998 for All The Kings Men. D.J. and Scotty were also nominated for a Grammy in 1998 for Going Back To Memphis, from their CD All The Kings Men. D.J. played on approximately 460 RCA cuts with Elvis. In 2009 D.J. Fontana was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Darlene Thompkins – Chicago-born Darlene Tompkins came from a "show biz family, " with relatives who worked in vaudeville and in plays (Tompkins' three-years-younger aunt is actress Beverly Washburn). A beauty contest victory opened some Hollywood doors for Tompkins, who began appearing in commercials, co-starred in Beyond the Time Barrier (1960) (at age 18) and appeared in TV series and additional features, including Elvis Presley's Blue Hawaii (1961). Marriage and motherhood derailed her screen career, but she managed to return in the 1970s to work as an extra, a stand-in and stuntwoman, occasionally stunt-doubling on "Charlie's Angels" (1976) (for Cheryl Ladd and in other TV series and movies.

Cynthia Pepper – Born and raised in Hollywood, Ca. by show business parents. Cynthia’s first big acting break was a regular part on "My 3 Sons". Cynthia left the show after she got her own series on ABC called "Margie" playing the title role.
