All of Elvis' jumpsuits were beautiful - but what is your most fave?

I think mine is the Powder Blue - I know its not as ornate as some of them but there is just something about it that I love, I think its a gorgeous colour and just very manly even though its quite a pastel shade.

Some of my favourite jumpsuits are some of the rarely-worn ones. For example, I think the Embroidered Flame is a stunning suit but for whatever reason, Elvis only wore it a few times.
I have to say that just about all of my favourite suits are the embroidered ones. As Gene Doucette said- they were works of art!
So here's my top 3:
3- INCA GOLD LEAF: Quite an unusual design- this suit reminds me of the Stone Egyptian because of the way the design is arranged around the chest. Notice how the buckle on the belt in this photo is a replacement buckle.
Favourite Jumpsuit Inca_s10
2- PEACOCK: Superb suit this- I love the way the feathers go all the way down the side of the legs and the colour scheme looks amazing onstage.
Favourite Jumpsuit Peacoc10
1- SUNDIAL: My favourite suit next to the Peacock. But for me the Sundial suit just edges ahead of the Peacock. Very Dramatic suit and the way the lights hit the gold Sundial with all the copper and silver highlights when first walking onstage creates a very dramatic effect. There is something about the Mayan / Aztec calender which makes this suit quite mystical and I'm sure it appealed to Elvis' own spiritual interests.
It was one of Elvis' most-worn suits and I think it is a stong contender next to the Aloha for his greatest ever costume.

Thank you for the replies guys -

Val - It must just be a womanly thing for us hehe funny how we both like that one - Just love it!!

Jasper, some really nice choices too - and thanks for the pics, all 3 of those are beautiful, the inca gold leaf especially so, and nice info on the buckle, you have an eagle eye for sure Smile - Do you know when the piccie of Elvis in the Sundial is?

Malcolm - Great choice - I really do like those tapestry suits too - They just look so smart & sexy!!!! I would like for Chris to get one in his wardrobe, I think lots of times audiences (ones who are not soooo into Elvis) expect something glitzy and dazzling and bejewelled maybe thats why you don't see so many ETAs wearing them, I wished more would I gonna work on Chris lol - He would like the Gypsy next I am gonna try and sway him more towards one of these if I can. They are probably a bit more practical too, my guess would be like the concho they are a lot more lighter and easier to move around in, cos some of the suits weigh an absolute ton!!! I can just about lift the belts! - One day I am going to weight the aloha and the belt and cape and see what it weighs cos I would love to know.
Do you have one of these?? I think one would really suit you cos (hope you dont mind me saying) you deffo have that late 60s/ early 70s look.

Wouldnt it be wonderful to be a millionaire and have them all!!!!!

Pete I been trying to look up Indian Feather Suit cos I was unsure which one it was - Very nice!!! Like that a lot, lol if I win the lottery mate that will be a gift from me to you!

I was getting it confused with what I now know is the Phoenix which I also like too - I saw an ETA pic of it in Black and red and it looked awesome!

Whilst looking for the Indian feather came across this website it has a lot of suits on it and a little info on each. It may be of interest to some of you - I have certainly book marked it and gonna have a good peruse at some point Smile

OOh, have you got a piccy? I think most of the suits were nice, lot of work and detail went ino them. One or 2 I am not sure of the name I am not keen on but it suits the era anyway.

Hi Michelle,

I'm not sure of the exact date of that Sundial picture; but it is from 1977 and going by the photo, I would say it is probably from the June tour- just before the filming of ELVIS IN CONCERT.

Towards the bginning of the year, Elvis was a bit heavier and his hair was longer, but in this photo he has lost a bit of weight so I would guess it was taken around May / June 1977.

Thanks for commenting and you are doing a great job as a moderator- you have a nice friendly manner about you!

the powder blue with white sleeves prehistoric bird suit aka blue bicentennial suit
Favourite Jumpsuit Prehistoric_bird_blue

The Peacock suit...i think this has the greatest visual impact of them all

thanks guys for all the responses and the superb piccies!!!

Val, thanks for posting that tapestry suit - aint it just sooooooooo nice!!! I have to try and bribe Chris with Sheherds pie and rhubarb crumble!! I could even be pushed to doing his laundry smalls for a month for that suit hehe

Thanks for that date Jasper, actually the reason I asked was because I was going to say Elvis was looking pretty trim in the pic so I wondered when it was as I know he had gained a bit of weight into the later 70's - He looked stunning in whatever he wore, whatever his size Smile -

David, lovely choice of suits and again beautiful pictures thanks for sharing Smile

John, I agree the aloha is a special suit, i think it was very special to Elvis too - and worn for sucha special event. I think non elvis fans dont see the imortance of what that show was and how for its time I far surpassed anything else. Actually, even today that show far supasses a lot of what is seen by the new generation to be the ultimate!

Me thinks so far the most favourite suit has been the peacock suit, it is stunning, never seen one up close hehe but if ever the chance arises i will be there having a look and maybe even a feel lol!! -

Hope everyone had a great weekend despite the downer of Friday nights footie

It's next on my wish list and soon to be ordered via B&K who have recently started making the embroidered/tapestry range. Just got the email from them last week to confirm, so I'm a happy bunny. Late 60's early 70's look will do for me...lol!! Shawn Klush and I had a good laugh about the different "Elvis" look us ETA's have going on and he said I had a real "Change Of Habit" thing about me, so I'll take that as a compliment.

Just got an email from Kim and Butch at B&K Enterprises with the pic of the patterns of tapestry for the new range of embroidery Jumpsuits. They will be adding some very tiny rhinestones to give more "sparkle" to the design, so I can't wait to get it. Expecting it to be ready mid/late September
