Malcolm King Porthcawl 2010

Malcolm King will be performing at the Premier Inn during the Porthcawl Elvis Festival. Kicking off before the festival with a show on Thursday 23rd and returning Saturday 25th, both shows are free admission and start at 8PM.

Do ya have a tent? - never know you may get something ross, evena caravan maybe - the kids are back to school then, so sites may be a bit quiter - wished we was going but its all beena big mess up for us this year.. Hopefully next year

Sad to say, I'm having to cancel my Porthcawl gigs. I'm posting it here on the Browser first, before making it public tomorrow. I've had bother with vocal cord nodules and had some tests done on Friday. As well as the nodules, the specialist discovered I'd suffered a small tear to the vocal fold, which had went unnoticed and left to heal, but there's a problem with the scarring. I can only assume this was done around Jan this year when I had a very bad chest infection and against docs advice, went to Memphis to sing at the fan club event and the Hard Rock Cafe. With treatment and rest over the next six weeks, I should be 100%, as long as I start respecting my voice as I'm first to admit I went into this without too much experience and knowledge about vocal health etc....but I've learnt a big lesson here.
I'm trying to talk the Premier Inn into going ahead with the gigs and I'm working with an ETA in Wales to assist me making sure the venue don't get left with entertainment, so I'll update everyone when anything gets decided.

Sorry to be missing the festival and hope to catch up with everyone again soon.

Aweeee Malcolm thats such a shame, but your health must come first. And would be foolish to go ahead and run the risk of making things worse. I hope you heal up quickly and fully.

With regards to Vocal health I think your so right, not many, if any know about this. I know nothing myself hehe and maybe a trhead on it from some who do know will be a great help. All I know is for Chris he just goes out and sings up until a few months ago he did not even do a vocal warm up, he tries to now time permitting but its not everytime. he is really prone to getting colds and infections so I am going to start to try and make him be more careful.

If anyone, or yourself even Malcolm have any advise etc.. on this and would like to starta thread I am sure it would be a great help. Its strange isnt it, we all do threads on costumes and how to take care of them make ups and wigs and this n that but tend to forget the most important thing.. how to take care of THE VOICE!

Hope you get things sorted out for the Premier Inn Malcolm, am sure you will and take things easy and keep following the doctors orders.

Sorry to hear this Malcom thats such a shame i think Paul young in the 80s had same problem and came back stronger than ever

Michelle, good idea, I think a thread on Vocal advice etc would be good. Once my own treatment is finished and I've a wee clue about it, I'll give my input.
