Taking a year out!

Hi guys ive decided to take a year off from being a ETA
reasons being i need to loose alot of weight before il be taken seriously.
When most folk see me they think its gona be a comedy act were infact i'm not
although i may apear as a joke to most folk
i had some nasty comments sat night wich has made me realise if i want to be taken seriouly i need to
take these actions,

i will still hang about here if thats ok i enjoy reading folks posts and have learned so much
and know i can learn much more

Up to u mate, but u should battle through it and ask for advice from the people on here.

I`ve not seen your videos but I`ve heard u sing and u r very good.

Why don`t u move away from the jumpsuit for a while - puffy shirt and pants with a belt would look good.

Do u wear the glasses on stage? If so, lose them!!!

Don`t let people knock u. Work to your strengths, which at the moment seems to be your voice. Then make the few changes above.

Hope u don`t mind me saying this, but I think it could be a mistake to stop - but u know u better than I do. Take care and keep in contact.

i personaly dont feel comfortable so going to continue my Cabaret act for my agent and still put elvis in but with out dressing up

Only you know best for you Rossy , although it is a shame that somebody's comments on how you look should stop you doing what you love , i have to say i have never looked at your pics and thought you were to big or did'nt look right to be an ETA , i myself have had fat taunts from the crowd and i have to confess they do hurt , but what as got me through it is that i tell myself that they can't knock me on my singing so they use the fat thing as a cheap shot , i know from listening to your sound files in the past that you are a cracking singer , it's a cruel world out there and there are plenty of nasty people out there who don't give a dam who they hurt as long as they get a cheap laugh at somebody's expence , i understand why you would want to take time out , it just annoys me the ignorance and rudeness of people

Ive never had taunts from being in a pub folk think cause ya on stage ya paid to stand ther and take it!
infact my Contracts stipulate the fact that if Artistes feel threatened or uncomfortable at all during the act they are entitled to leave with full pay (never had to do that yet touch wood)

but i think i need to feel comfortable in me

I agree with what everyone else has basically said, you need to feel comfortable and shouldn't put yourself in a position where you feel vulnerable either physically or emotionally. But I think that you have to realise that being overweight aint a crime, if this spurs you on into losing a few pounds and improving health then maybe some good will come from it - every cloud has a silver lining, but I feel if you feel you need to lose weight it should be for you and your health not to appease some twit who thinks he is funny making personal remarks like that, fact is he probably made himself look the joke by stooping that low!!! I think regardless of someones weight be that they are overweight or even underweight you inevitably get some people who are out to get their kicks out of making fun at someone else and Elvis Tributes i am afraid come in for a lot of stick. i bet everyone at some time or another has had personal remarks thrown at them like that, and it sucks.. I know how it is to be overweight and how it affect your confidence, I have been overweight all my life, I have lost 8 stone but am still a bit overweight I think when you have been overweight the hurtful things people say never truely leaves you completely but you do have to try and not let it affect your life or stop you doing the things you want to do., cos once you do that the twits (I really wanna call them something so much worse lol) have won. If it wasnt the weight thing it wold have been something else said Ross, cos its not about you or your weight its about some loser trying to impress his friends and think hes funny and all he does is make himself look stupid. I do hope you dont let this incident stop you, unfortunately its path of the course and hopefully eventually you will be able to just brush that crap off, for every nasty idiot like that there are loads of decent people who will enjoy your show, and i think its a shame to deprive them. Its a bit of a standing joke with me and chris that he is great for surprise parties cos no one in a zillion years would guess hes an eta, and even when we turn up sometimes I am sure folks are a bit mystified, and I even find myself saying its ok he looks different in his wig! Chris aint tall, or broad he dont have a head of thick black hair he wished he did hehe - so see most everyone have things about them they wished was different but at the end of the day there is one thing that talks and thats the voice! So as Elvis said - keep singing the Song!

but the suprising thiing is no one took him on as they was all singing along and at the end of the night when folk were shaking my hand he was sitting alone at the back i was asked to go back up for encore and do suspicious minds again and he got up and danced so dunno what his problem was lol

but i am vunerable when i hear comments about my weight i have lost 6 stone since 2006 and feel i need a few more to be up infront of folk doing ETA am ok with my normal acts as i wear nice Black shirts lol (man in black lol)
i know i can sing and i have the tools once i fit into my jumpsuits and feel comfortable i wont let these morons hurt me

Exactly Ross they was begging you for more and that twit made himself look the numpty he is x 6 stone is an awesome acheivment!! and if you want to continue the weight loss thats great but that is still achievable doing your act also if you feel you can, if you cant then you must do what is best for you remember too that Elvis had to deal with this kinda stuff too, he was critised about his weight, not that I personally ever thought his weight problem was anymore really than a lot of men in their 40s have! - I was just hanging me wahing out and I was so livid!! just thinking about this - over the last few weeks you have been so enthsiatic about your tribute, always bubbly and looking for ways to improve and coming up with ideas for your guitars and alterning your suits and all I am so angry that one idiot has dampened your spirits, how dare he!! this is going to sound crazy mate , but he probably did'nt mean it personally , but these people forget that we are human and have feelings and these things hurt , i bet he is like it with every act who walk's through the door and he hates to see other people have the attention , no doubt he was an only child or something the world is full of fools and jelous idiots

Rossy this is sad news to hear, I agree with Ed & think you look fine. I have seen Etas alot bigger than you who don't have the quality in their vocally ability like yourself. You have come along way since you first started, got some great suits now etc. Some people are just intent on trying to bring you down & take the p#ss & usually all because they either ain't got the balls to get up & do it themselves or are jealous! Believe me it happens to the best of the best, trust me I know cause I work with the best (in my opinion) Doug Church, people have tried to taunt him in the past & for what? What could they possibly say about Doug . . the guy is a legend!
A little while ago there was a couple of fake youtube accounts opened in my name & the idiots behind were going around posting pathetic sarcastic comments on other etas videos in the hope that the etas would think it was me, all this to try & discredit me, pathetic! Also recently there were a couple of videos made which featured me in a way again to discredit me & take the p#ss, what made it worse is the the person/persons who did them are part of the eta world/biz, they also featured another well respected eta in one of the videos which again must have been down to jealousy cause the other eta is the nicest guy you can meet & has always bent over backwards to help other etas out even to his own expense. These kind of people that do these disrectful things aren't even fit enough to wipe the sweat from our brows Ross! My advice is rise above it if you can & carry on doing your tribute to elvis, sod the idiots who don't like it!

OMG what a numpty this bloke is. I think we should invite him down to one of the browser parties and we will see what side of his face he is laughing then . It would be a real shame for you to rest now as we have all seen how much time, effort and money you have put into everything. I am shaking because i want to slap this numpty , when the browser party is arranged or if you can get to Birmingham and see how great real fans are this would change your mind.

He obviously has a issue with himself, I want to look like Pamela Anderson but unfortunatley I look more like Bella Hemburg but it dosen't stop me from what I want to do. Firstly i know exactly how you feel and where your coming from , i have never had it from a audience but so called Fellow ETA's but my answer to them or anyone else is this , if thats all you have to pick on is my weight then i'm doing just fine. As some of my closer friends will tell you i got myself into such a state i have lost my mojo in the ETA scene or have i ?

At Gary's practice days i tend to sing billy fury songs but i have been missing the Elvis connection
and like you i feel uncomfortable about my weight so what to do ..... Well as many of yu know lorna's sister got married not so long ago , on the evening do i met some of the guys we went on a stag do with , they was saying go on get up and sing go on do it. So asked the DJ if he had any tracks to which he replied i got thousands , So i got up to sing baby i don't care cause this is one of lorna's favs , the crowd for which i hardly knew any of them wanted more , so sang another one , later the DJ came to me and said i have allot of requests for you to sing but i can't fit all off them in but he sorted more tracks for me to sing later in the evening , the audience reaction was great , the DJ later was talking to me and gave me his card and i said well sometimes i do get asked about DJ's he said no its not for that i employ tributes and would love you to come work with me I have to say this boosted my confidence no end and i wasn't in a jumpsuit just a wedding suit lol. I have never had a negative gig but you know this industry is harsh especially with the people in it and can put you off just like it has me at times. I'm Enjoying doing the Billy Fury stuff i'm doing at the moment but i feel as though i'm getting the bug back again for the Elvis tribute. So don't give up buddy keep up the good work and TCB xxxx

Hi rossy mate, i think 4/5 months down the line you would regret the lost time that you would be giving up a hell of a lot more especially as being an eta does have a certain life expectancy. as you have said you are in the process of losing weight so dont give this arsewipe the satisfaction & dont lose all the hard work, time, blood, sweat, & money you've invested into this.... i'm sure the compliments you get at your gigs far outway the knobs... & as val has already said get yourself down to one of our browser events or birmingham in january & meet true likeminded friends/family & fans

treat it like riding a bike you've had a "LITTLE" fall get straight back on an keep pedaling mate otherwise you may never do later down the line... come on mate you know you are better than this dickhead jellous arsehole

Dont worry about feeling a bit silly, this is what we are here for. Everyone on here has had their fair share of numpties at shows (not me I always behave when I am at a show ) Really pleased you have got your mojo back Paul .
