| If you were booked to do a show but they told you strictly no jumpsuit, quiffs etc how would you feel? Some Elvis Fans hate ETAs but they are ok with people singing his songs as long as they dont try to 'impersonate' Elvis. Would you feel comfortable with no wig or sideburns or big collars? Could you still get into the 'Elvis' zone? | |

| I picked the first option but it is not true - I have never been asked to do this but it would not bother me at all. It would be no different to someone asking "can you do other music than Elvis in one of the sets". I am trying to get to a position where I do this stuff full time, so I see myself as an entertainer who does an Elvis tribute among other things, rather that an Elvis Tribute act full stop. I don`t know if I`ll get wrong for saying this | |

| As long as you're a good performer and you're presenting Elvis' music in a respectful way, I don't see anyting wrong with it. I, personally, enjoy performing his music as myself unless the situation or presentation absolutely calls for it. |

| I can understand what you mean Lorna.
Most hardcore Elvis fans, mainly men, really dislike ETAs that have the jumpsuits on and i think that in their eyes that the only one who looked good in a jumpsuit was Elvis and if anyone does tries to look like Elvis then the hardcore fans get upset.
There are even some really good 50's ETAs and they get the same treatment from these certain Elvis fans. I know some ETAs are very passionate about trying to put on a good show representing Elvis and i can see the argument from both sides of the fence.
I dont think its essential to dress up like Elvis to be labelled an ETA.

| I use to be an Elvisfan like that Sean! The only one i would like to see in a jumpsuit, was Elvis!! I thought all ETA's lookt rediculess in a jumpsuit, and that only Elvis lookt good in it. The rest to me, where copy-cats! I went to Elvis-meetings, and at the Elvis-meetings, in Holland, ETA's where not alowd to wear a jumpsuit. When i met Johnny i askt him, why in the world, he would wear such a 'monkeysuit'? He explained to me, it was becourse of the love for Elvis. To him it was a very big honor to wear one. He just wanted to keep the spirit alive, so that people where awear of what the King did. It made some more sense to me, and it chainged my point of few, to look at an ETA now. I still rather see Johnny in his own clothing, and he likes that too. But on a lot of gigs they just like to see him in an Elvis suit. | |

I dont think its essential to dress up like Elvis to be labelled an ETA. Its very hard for me to understand this way of thinking because I have never been `obsessed` with anyone (apart from my kids and family) If Elvis was still alive and I had the chance to meet him I would be excited but not `in awe` of him. And to be honest, I don`t think Elvis was the kind of guy that would be bothered if you were. He was only a human but he had an exceptional tallent. In my line of work I`ve met some very famous people and been out with them (Alan Shearer, Bobby Robson, to name a few.) To some people, Alan is seen in the same `God like` way that Elvis is seen by others. We have had a couple of decent golf tournys together, had a nice meal with him, Gary Speed, Rob Lee and the wives. But it is no big deal. As you can probably guess I also hate these celeb shows for the same reason. You know what they say "You can please most of the people most of the time, but you can`t please all of the people all of the time"

| Most fans that I have spoken with, say that a genuine Tribute Artist to Elvis would be just as acceptable to Elvis wearing a very nice and attractive pair of pants and dress shirt with or without jacket and I have to agree with this. Hugs Charmaine | |
