| 50 Years ago, Elvis was barely back from Germany or he headed for the studios! There was no time to waste, so on Sunday March 20th 1960 he and his entourage (Scotty and D.J., but not Bill Black, he would never play with Elvis again…) drive by bus to Nashville for sessions at the RCA’s Studio B. All the musicians from the June 1958 session will join him there. Also present are, the Jordanaires, Colonel Parker, various RCA executives and RCA’s new chief studio engineer, Bill Porter. The session was organized under top secret conditions. To avoid unwanted publicity and fan mania, the musicians were told that they would be working with Jim Reeves. Elvis will record six songs between 8:00 P.M. and 7:00 A.M.. There is an urgent need for a new single, so within two days ‘Stuck on You’ is released with ‘Fame and Fortune’ on the B-Side. On April 3rd he will be back in Nashville to record another12! songs. Some songs of these sessions are released on single, but most of them will come out in April on the LP ‘Elvis is Back.’ So just in case the world had any doubt… Elvis was most certainly back! Note; On the picture we can see Elvis in the RCA Hollywood studios during the ‘G.I. Blues’ sessions on April 27-28 1960. Published: march 20th 2010 07:56 AM.
