The problem is that when you surround yourself with yes men they invariably say yes. Especially when they should say no.
Well the ones that werent 'yes' men got sacked.
The MM , were well aware that any interference in Elvis' personal life would result in instant dismissal.
Elvis sacked many of his entourage throughout the 60's/70's in this way then reinstated them just to let them know who was 'boss'.
It was impossible for them to do anything really.
Larry Geller was brought in by Elvis in the Mid 60's and it was a time when Elvis got very spiritual.
Parker had Larry sacked a few years later cause he was getting too involved in Elvis' private life.
Elvis brought Larry back in around '76.
I first saw Larry in '85, and was fortunate enough to have met him and have a brief chat with him and his wife in January 2008 in Memphis.
I reminded him that he came to London for Elvis' 50th Birthday celebrations cause he forgot, even though there is a photo of him at the event in his book 'If I Can Dream'.
You cant really take him seriously by some of the things he comes out an says but he's an 'ok' guy, i suppose.
He has contradicted himself quite a few times in interviews, books etc.
Not really liked by some of those who were close to Elvis.
I found it a pleasure to meet him.
